InnovationLab GmbH will present its technology at the 4th ECP in a workshop

At the 4th ECP Partnering has started: over 300 one-on-one meetings have already been arranged. InnovationLab GmbH presents applications and users of its promising technology at the 4th ECP in a workshop.

The 4th European Chemistry Partnering, which will take place on 27 February in Frankfurt am Main, is developing into a German HotSpot for the drivers of innovative technologies and business concepts related to the chemical industry. Heidelberg-based InnovationLab GmbH develops and produces printed electronics and also supports start-ups and large companies in bringing innovative technology applications to market.

Printed electronics is one of the most promising technologies worldwide. It is strongly driven by the growing areas of low-cost IoT sensors and large area printed sensors. With its shareholders BASF SE, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, SAP SE, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), InnovationLab GmbH has developed into a manufacturing company focusing on printed sensors. In close cooperation with customers, the company not only develops sensor solutions, but also produces them in large quantities on site.

“We bring together research, development and production. This is what makes our company unique”, explains Dr. -Ing. Christoph Kaiser, Technology Cooperation Manager at InnovationLab. “This enables us to produce sensor technology that is needed everywhere in the age of the Internet of Things at very low cost and in a customized way. In addition, our infrastructure can be rented, which is particularly interesting for start-ups”.

Printed electronics, a promising technology

The close cooperation with customers is also reflected in InnovationLab’s appearance at the 4th ECP: The workshop not only presents the future technology of printed electronics, but also the close cooperation with partners. In the final part, five partner companies will be presented with their own technology applications. “We want to support our development partners, especially the start-ups, in their further development,” says Kaiser. “We consider the ECP to be a very good platform for presenting technologies and companies and for making new professional contacts”.

Dr. Holger Bengs, CEO of BCNP Consultants GmbH and initiator of European Chemistry Partnering, welcomes InnovationLab’s appearance at the 4th ECP: “InnovationLab is a prime example of the fusion of R&D and production. Especially in times of miniaturization and increasing digitalization, new partnering models in which customers and suppliers become development partners are extremely important. The InnovationLab workshop is a real enrichment for the participants of the 4th ECP”.

Background

97 percent of all products contain at least one chemical process step: renewable raw materials, enzymes, industrial biotechnology, new processes, products from residual materials, digitization, etc. are changing the processes in chemical value creation: starting with purchasing logistics on to production and finally marketing and sales. Interdisciplinary exchange is gaining in importance. With the ECP, an international chemistry community is growing that wants to derive more innovation from what already exists.

European Chemistry Partnering: a brief overview

The European Chemistry Partnering is an event format in which the focus is on discussion about innovation along the chemical value chain. It is aimed at decision makers, innovation managers and investors in the chemical industry and its user industries, as well as industry-focused stakeholders and qualified service providers and consultants. The ECP consists of the elements: Keynote Speech, Partnering, Pitches, Exhibition, Workshops and Final Panel. Companies can describe their innovations in short presentations (Pitches) and arrange appointments via a software tool in advance (Partnering)

The ECP always begins at the Get-Together on the evening before and it ends with a joint breakfast on the next day. Satellite events organized with partners emphasize its importance as both marketplace and meeting point for decision makers. The European Chemistry Partnering was conceived and initiated by Dr Holger Bengs, CEO of BCNP Consultants GmbH. The first event took place in 2017 and has been now organized twice a year since 2018.
